What Women Need

High blood pressure is called the silent killer. It has no symptoms but can damage the heart and blood vessels over time. If left untreated, it can lead to stroke or kidney failure. That’s why doctors check their patients’ blood pressure at every visit. Without regular check-ups, we might go years without knowing what we need to know.

The same is true for Christian women. We don’t always realize what our spirits need until our hearts are broken and we become desperate for a remedy. Maybe it’s time to give ourselves a good dose of prevention so we don’t need a pound of cure.

I’m beginning a new series this week called “What Women Need.” The first installment will be posted Sunday on the Lean into Jesus website. I’ll share a link on Facebook and send it out via email Sunday afternoon. Over the next few weeks, we will explore five essential needs that every woman has. We’ll start from the very foundation and build upward. I can’t wait to get started! I’m praying for you and hope this new series will bless your hearts.

Take note: Lean into Jesus Ministries will host a women’s conference on Saturday, February 7th, at the RSVP building in Guntersville, AL. Just yesterday, a lady reminded me how special this event is. She said she’s been to many ladies’ events, and this one ALWAYS blesses her. The theme this year is “Even If,” taken from Habakkuk 3:17-19. So many of us have our “even if” stories, don’t we? Please mark your calendars now. Registration is just around the corner.

“Even though the fig trees have no blossoms, and there are no grapes on the vines; even though the olive crop fails, and the fields lie empty and barren; even though the flocks die in the fields, and the cattle barns are empty, yet I will rejoice in the Lord! I will be joyful in the God of my salvation! The Sovereign Lord is my strength! He makes me as surefooted as a deer, able to tread upon the heights.” (Habakkuk 3:17-18 NLT)

Watch for Part 1 of “What Women Need” this Sunday. (If you’re worried about missing it and want to subscribe to Perfection Road by email, click here.) Happy Tuesday!

How Does Your Life Translate?

By Donna Jackson | June 9, 2026 |

My grandson Camden came back from a mission trip to Canada on Saturday. He savored Toronto’s sights, sounds, and flavors and learned about the diverse religions in such a multicultural city. Experiences like these provide a perspective that’s difficult to achieve without visiting firsthand. Soon, he will travel to another country with a completely different…

Remembering the Good Ol’ Days

By Donna Jackson | May 26, 2026

Do you remember the day you were set free from the penalty and power of sin? For me, it was the weekend of June 13, 1971. Richard Nixon was president, the final Ed Sullivan Show had just aired, and Carole King’s “It’s Too Late/I Feel the Earth Move” was about to hit #1 on the…

Sweet, Sweet Music

“When the Father sends the Advocate as my representative—that is, the Holy Spirit—he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you. I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or…

A Goldilocks Life With Doubts and Questions

By Donna Jackson | May 12, 2026

Last Tuesday was a Goldilocks day at Orange Beach. Not too hot, not too cold. It was just right! As the sun began to sink, Ron and I gathered our belongings because dinner was on our radar. After getting all gussied up, we made our way to the car when, suddenly, what looked like a…

Something New – Home

By Donna Jackson | April 28, 2026

Traveling brings a broad smile to my husband’s face. I’ve always been more of a homebody, but his enthusiasm for a new adventure is highly contagious. Months of anticipation and planning culminate in exploring new and exciting territory and taking in wondrous sights. Over the next six months, we will traverse dry deserts and deep canyons,…

Something New: Worship

By Donna Jackson | April 21, 2026

Is your Sunday morning worship more powerful, more passionate, and more personal than it once was?  Several years ago, Matt Redmond released a song titled “The Heart of Worship.” He expressed a repentant heart when he sang, “I’m sorry, Lord, for the thing I’ve made it when it’s all about you, Jesus. It’s all about…

Something New: Friendship

By Donna Jackson | April 14, 2026

“Who has ever had a messy friendship?” That was the question I posed to a group of junior and senior high girls this past Sunday. Every young girl (and some older folks, too) shot their hands into the air. It’s impossible to walk through life without rubbing someone the wrong way, isn’t it? Each of…

Something New

By Donna Jackson | April 7, 2026

Ever felt like Peter? He wanted a redo. He needed a clean heart, a second chance, a fresh start. How could he have abandoned Jesus, the man who meant everything to him, just when He needed him most? Feelings of fear, shame, failure, and unworthiness swallowed him like a Floridian sinkhole. We may feel that…
