What Women Need

High blood pressure is called the silent killer. It has no symptoms but can damage the heart and blood vessels over time. If left untreated, it can lead to stroke or kidney failure. That’s why doctors check their patients’ blood pressure at every visit. Without regular check-ups, we might go years without knowing what we need to know.

The same is true for Christian women. We don’t always realize what our spirits need until our hearts are broken and we become desperate for a remedy. Maybe it’s time to give ourselves a good dose of prevention so we don’t need a pound of cure.

I’m beginning a new series this week called “What Women Need.” The first installment will be posted Sunday on the Lean into Jesus website. I’ll share a link on Facebook and send it out via email Sunday afternoon. Over the next few weeks, we will explore five essential needs that every woman has. We’ll start from the very foundation and build upward. I can’t wait to get started! I’m praying for you and hope this new series will bless your hearts.

Take note: Lean into Jesus Ministries will host a women’s conference on Saturday, February 7th, at the RSVP building in Guntersville, AL. Just yesterday, a lady reminded me how special this event is. She said she’s been to many ladies’ events, and this one ALWAYS blesses her. The theme this year is “Even If,” taken from Habakkuk 3:17-19. So many of us have our “even if” stories, don’t we? Please mark your calendars now. Registration is just around the corner.

“Even though the fig trees have no blossoms, and there are no grapes on the vines; even though the olive crop fails, and the fields lie empty and barren; even though the flocks die in the fields, and the cattle barns are empty, yet I will rejoice in the Lord! I will be joyful in the God of my salvation! The Sovereign Lord is my strength! He makes me as surefooted as a deer, able to tread upon the heights.” (Habakkuk 3:17-18 NLT)

Watch for Part 1 of “What Women Need” this Sunday. (If you’re worried about missing it and want to subscribe to Perfection Road by email, click here.) Happy Tuesday!

It’s Your Choice

By Donna Jackson | August 18, 2026

We enjoy bright, sunshiny days when everything seems to be going right. We tilt our faces upward, close our eyes, and bask in the wonder of the day. It’s easy to get along with others and keep a positive attitude when all’s right with the world. But what about those days when the clouds roll…

Troubling the Troubler

By Donna Jackson | August 4, 2026

TROUBLED Everyone has moments when they feel like Wile E. Coyote, crushed under a boulder as the Roadrunner’s cheerful “beep, beep” echoes overhead. Everywhere we turn, trouble seems to find us while everyone else seems to be cheerfully “beep beeping” through life. When Jezebel, the Israeli king’s wife, sought to destroy the prophet Elijah, he…

What Grandma Said

Do you recall trying to figure out your life after high school? Will I marry someday? Where will I settle down? What career will I choose? How have things turned out? Here’s an excerpt from the “old” section of “Everyday Heroes – Old, New, and Even You.” It’s likely to evoke sweet memories or steer…

The Cart Before the Horse

By Donna Jackson | July 21, 2026

“Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God” (Matthew 5:3). This one always provokes an “OUCH!” when I read it. Purity is so hard in such a polluted world. In my younger days, this verse convicted me, leaving me feeling condemned, guilty, and ashamed. I was certain I had to try harder…

What Our Hearts Long For

By Donna Jackson | July 14, 2026

On Saturday, we stood around the grave of our nephew’s 24-year-old wife. She lived a beautiful, God-honoring life and is now in the presence of the Lord (2 Corinthians 5:8 NLT). Her family and friends, who have placed their lives in God’s hands, will have a grand reunion one day. It’s a day I long for;…

There’s an Everyday Hero in You

By Donna Jackson | July 7, 2026

Do you ever wish you could have walked with God in the Garden of Eden in the cool of the day? Or walked on dry ground with the Hebrews as they passed through the waters of the Red Sea? Or witnessed the battle between David and Goliath? Maybe you’ve wondered what it would feel like…

How Does Your Life Translate?

By Donna Jackson | June 9, 2026

My grandson Camden came back from a mission trip to Canada on Saturday. He savored Toronto’s sights, sounds, and flavors and learned about the diverse religions in such a multicultural city. Experiences like these provide a perspective that’s difficult to achieve without visiting firsthand. Soon, he will travel to another country with a completely different…

Remembering the Good Ol’ Days

By Donna Jackson | May 26, 2026

Do you remember the day you were set free from the penalty and power of sin? For me, it was the weekend of June 13, 1971. Richard Nixon was president, the final Ed Sullivan Show had just aired, and Carole King’s “It’s Too Late/I Feel the Earth Move” was about to hit #1 on the…
