With the banner-wearing New Year baby just beginning to toddle through 2015, I decided to make you an offer you can’t refuse. But more about that later.
My blinking cursor flashed 732 times, give or take, as my mind struggled to find a proper beginning for this first post of the year.
Too much football, food, and fun.
Oh sure, I could write about resolutions, but everyone does that. I could shift your thoughts toward making a fresh start.
Maybe time recounting lessons learned in 2014 would be beneficial.
Nope. I plan on moving forward.
Then a wave of genius swept over me. I courageously closed my eyes, flipped open my Bible, pointed my finger and vowed to write about whatever verse lay at its end.
Crazy, I know. But it worked.
This is where I landed: “So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God. – 1 Corinthians 10:31
I promise! That’s where I landed!
What better time to renew our commitment to glorify God in all we do than right now? Some of you want to lose some weight, get in shape, eat healthier, and maybe even quit drinking things that don’t help you honor God. But what’s your motivation?
Do you want to do those things to look better, feel better, or to please someone else? Finding the right motivation makes all the difference. If pleasing yourself, your spouse, or another person becomes your starting place you may arrive at February weary, worn, and defeated.
But, fear not! Placing all your choices through the filter of God’s glory increases your chances of success. Calling on His power helps you claim success before it actually arrives. Focusing on becoming better friends with Jesus will change the way you think.
How do you become better friends? Spend time together. Tell each other the truth. Give Him the benefit of the doubt by believing He loves you and wants what’s best for you. Brag about Him; He’ll brag to God about you. Serve together. Love each other.
Allowing Jesus to have best-friend status in your world changes everything. You begin to see things through His eyes, you pick up His habits, and when you sit across the table from Him you know how He takes His grape juice. Inevitably, you can even finish His sentences. That kind of closeness produces a heart eager to do everything to the glory of God – just like Jesus.
Now, about that offer you can’t refuse. For the entire month of January, each Everyday Heroes ($13) purchase will include a free copy of Temple Sweepers: Motivation for a Healthy Body and Soul . It’s a buy-one-get-one-free deal celebrating the arrival of 2015. Maybe just a little spark of new motivation will get the year rolling smoothly for you and your friends. 🙂 Click on the ‘Store’ tab above for more information. Thanks for being part of the Perfection Road family and happy new year, friend!
